The Donau-Auen is the largest national Park in Austria, situated on the territory of Lower Austria. The Park area is 93 sq km, it stretches from Vienna to the border with Slovakia. Is one of the most valuable parks in Central Europe. Was founded on October 27, 1996. The Donau-Auen stretched to a length of 38 miles, and the width of the Park at the widest point is 4 km. The total area currently stands at more than 9300 hectares, of which approximately 65% of coastal forests, 15 % - meadows, and about 20% water.

In the reserve of more than 700 different species of plants, 30 species of mammals and over 100 species of birds. In addition, the Park is home to about 13 species of amphibians, 50 species of fish and 8 species of reptiles. Among typical inhabitants of the reserve can be divided crested newt, European sea turtle and a beaver. In total, the Park is home to over 5000 animals. Also in the Park is very diverse flora there are more than 800 species of plants, including valuable species of orchids.

The Park offers tours, thematic workshops, meetings professionals and nature lovers. The Central information point of the reserve is located in the castle ORT. For lovers of active recreation in the Park provides a large cycle route that starts in Passau.
