Cathedral of the Epiphany was built in 1693-1696, including in the basement parts of the original building, Dating back to 1624 year. In 1697, was consecrated to the North aisle in memory of Metropolitan Alexy. The South aisle was converted into a sacristy.

Epiphany Cathedral lower Church in honor of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God is a fine example of "Naryshkin Baroque". This style is characterized by the composition octagon quadrangle and the white-stone decor, oriented to Western forms. The temple is distinguished for the high roof of the refectory and strongly protruding apse of the altar. Interest lush eaves of the Cathedral in the form of the fringe, the abundance of decorative balusters in architraves, broken pediments, pilasters and shell. Remarkable also the columns at the corners of the quadrangle. The roof of the refectory has a Baroque pediment.

Inside the Church there are fragments of the sculptural decoration, made by a team of craftsmen from Switzerland in 1704-1705, "coronation of the virgin" on the altar-side, "Christmas" – on the South and "Baptism" – on the Northern walls.

The lower Church served as a burial vault Dolgoruky, Yusupov, Sheremetev and Golitsyn. After the closure of the temple necropolis was destroyed, leaving only a few tombstones.

The Cathedral was closed in 1929. In the lower floor was arranged in a flour warehouse, and at the top is the Ukrainian club.

Currently in the upper Church restored carved gilded iconostasis, murals and sculptures. In the lower Church consecrated the main altar of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God and the chapel in the name of Metropolitan Alexis of Moscow.
