The Forum Of Trajan Photo: The Forum Of Trajan

This magnificent monumental architecture in the era of the reign of Emperor Trajan created by architect Apollodorus Damascus. The forum was erected in 106-113 years BC on government subsidies, which grew as a result of a victorious war with the Dacians, which ended several years earlier. The size of the forum Grand: 300 meters long and 185 meters in width. To build the Forum of Trajan, it was necessary to cut the top of the Quirinal hill and Apollodorus of Damascus brilliantly coped with this task.

The dedication of the Column of Trajan was held in 113 ad; its total height is nearly 40 meters. On its top there was a statue of Trajan, lost in the moment. In 1587 Pope Sixtus V ordered it to be replaced by the statue of St. Peter. The column serves as a tombstone for Trajan: a door at the base of the column, leads to the hall, where placed the urn containing the ashes of the Emperor. The Column shaft goes around the spiral continuous frieze with a length of 200 meters and a height of about 1 meter is a documentary story about the two victorious battles of Trajan against the Dacians in 101-102 and 105-106 years BC.

The Trajan's market is a huge brick semi-circle. On the lower floor open shops; shop top floor adjacent to the rock in the place where you made the cut of the hill. The third tier ensemble includes a road which rises steeply to the top. Many shops, offices, portable counters, and Basil complement this architectural ensemble consisting of six floors.
