The purpose of the battle of Inkerman was as follows: it was necessary to thwart the assault of Sevastopol, and to force the enemy to capture your surroundings. A fence was built around the restored monument, made of stone, white marble slabs engraved inscriptions: "in Memory of 16 thousand Russian, English and French soldiers, generals and officers who fell in battle near Inkerman 24.10.54, with the attempt by the Russian army to relieve Sevastopol" on the right, and is exactly the same inscription in English on the left.

On the second step of the pedestal of the monument bears another inscription: "Erected by the British army soldiers in 1856, destroyed by an army of German soldiers in 1942, was restored by the citizens of Sevastopol in 2004."

The opening of the monument took place on 31.10.2004 year, at the opening ceremony of the monument was the English delegation, attended by descendants of the soldiers of the Crimean war.
