The the Asian Civilisations Museum presents a broad exposition dedicated to the cultural heritage of many Asian countries for over 5 thousand years. The Museum has two buildings. The first wing to the attention of the exhibition visitors are invited, telling mostly about the history of China. And, of course, award-winning permanent exhibition entitled "the Legacy of peranakans", which tells of the peoples formerly living on the Islands of the Indonesian archipelago.

The most striking exhibit dedicated to the inhabitants of the Islands, is the exhibition Tok Panjang (translated as "long table"). Here you can get acquainted with the customs of the ceremonial meals at peranakans, which were held on the occasion of birthdays, weddings and other important dates. The exhibition presents household utensils made of porcelain with images of butterflies and flowers, as well as pieces of furniture.

The second building of the Museum, built in 1867, is a monument of the Victorian era. In the past it housed the courthouse. Currently in this wing you will find a variety of themed galleries. Using the latest demonstrative, interactive technologies presents the history and culture of India, China, South East Asia and West Asia, preaching Islam. Also worth a visit are the numerous events dedicated to the ancient traditions, art forms and technologies of yesteryear. Just 11 rooms of the Museum there are about 1600 exhibits.
