Red house Photo: Red house

Red house – one of the real jewels of Trier. This building stands on the Main square and originally, in 1684, was built for the Guild of bakers. These homes are in many European cities, the form, number of floors, even the facade – everything is a tribute to the traditions of those times. This remarkable house is the fact that it's engraved with gold inscription "Trier stood before Rome one thousand three hundred years, may he stand and on, rejoices in eternal peace! Amen! ".

Distinctive color, due to which the house got its name, makes it stand out and immediately draws attention. The building is a striking example of late Renaissance built easily and gracefully. The facade is full of different elements, among which are not only decorative stucco elements, but also the traditional buildings of that time figure. In this case it is Saint Anthony, who is holding a book, and on it stands a little Jesus. Some refer to the style of the building to the Baroque. Undoubtedly, the Red house is the decoration of the Main square. Nearby are cafes and restaurants with a leisurely inspection.

Red house, usually recommended as one of the stops in the city. Since the building sits right on the route for the default route, it is inscribed in all the guidebooks. And, of course, the phrase about the dominance of Trier over Rome is fiction, but still, it attracts the eyes. Many travelers go to this building only to see her own eyes.
