According to the ancient written tradition, the initiation of the beautiful Cathedral of Nikolo-Terebinska of the monastery took place in 1502, with the support of a wealthy landowner Michael Obudowa.

In 1611 the Cathedral was destroyed by Lithuanian troops, and only 30 years later, near the ruins was built a cell for the priest Abraham. On the site of the former temple was soon discovered the icon of St. Nicholas that was a sign for the revival of the lost Cathedral. In 1699 construction work has commenced. Its consecration took place on December 29, 1699. Metropolitan Volochok job and Novgorod signed the instrument of carrying out the process of sanctification and gave her Andrian – hieromonk Terebinskiy Nikolaev desert.

In the first decades of the 19th century was received long-awaited approval to begin construction of a new stone Church consecrated in honor of the miracle worker and Saint Nicholas, the Foundation of which was held in 1833. Directly the monastery was granted for jobs for living.

In the summer of 1833, FR Sergius signed a contract for the finishing of the new Cathedral of St. Nicholas Church with a coachman named Gabriel Ivanov and his children: Michael, Nikifor, Ivan Petrov and Gavrilovi-Pozharskii. Children Gavril Ivanovich took up the plastering. All the works were done on time, clean and in good faith. It was agreed and the molded stucco figures, subsequently located in the internal and external decoration of the Cathedral, and also in the refectory room, on the altar and in the bell tower.

In the spring of 1835 came into force a new contract on performance of works between hieromonk Gabriel and urban petty bourgeois Berestove Ivan on painting the walls, starting from the upper walls and dome to the arch; the painting subject and the inner surface of the altar. Required by the contract work was completed in the summer of 1836. With the support of the monastery's work was exhibited of the forest that she couldn't do without the support of people Berestov.

Hieromonk Nicholas-Terebinskiy desert, which was responsible for the construction process when Nicholas Cathedral, in the spring of 1839, told the Archbishop of Kashin and Tver on the completion of the plan, concerning not only the construction and decoration of the new Cathedral.

Filed a petition for permission to cast a new bell, whose weight reached 300 pounds. Citizen of Swingin Mikhail Ivanovich, acting in the person of chief master Ostashkov, decided to participate in the manufacture of bells. Casting took place on the monastery ground. It is for this reason that approved the decision to build a plant here of brick and wood, not requiring the abode of additional benefits. The amount of compensation was to be 10 thousand rubles beforehand at the beginning, to pay part of the money. The rest of the money was paid after the cast bells, the monastery received the annual guarantee for possible marriage.

To date there is a record preserved of 1855, in which it says that the temple in honor of the miracle worker and Saint Nicholas was stone. All construction work was completed in 1835, and the consecration took place on 1 October 1838. The Cathedral was listed two chapels, one of which was consecrated in honor of the Holy righteous Wonderworker James Borovitskaya and the second in honor of the Vladimir icon of the mother of God. The consecration of the first chapel took place on 20 October 1834 Seraphim – Krasnokholmskiy Archimandrite, and another five days later hieromonk Gabriel from Terebinskiy abode.

During the Soviet era, the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, like most other temples, was closed. Today the Church is rapidly recovering.
