Vinogradov, Ivan Matveevich is one of the outstanding scientists in the field of mathematics of our time. September 14, 1986 the opening of the memorial house-Museum of academician Vinogradov I. V., which was agreed with the Council of Ministers of the USSR. The outdoor Museum was the only Museum in the country devoted scientist math.
During the life of I. M. Vinogradov, the decision was made to restore in Velikie-Luki the parental home of the scientist. The idea of recovery, created by Museum staff, Ivan Matveevich actively supported and even drew a plan of the structure of the house, thoroughly and accurately describe the interior of the dining room, living room, rooms, his sisters and father, and all of the antique furniture of his childhood.
In 1982 the house of I. M. Vinogradov was fully restored. Shortly thereafter, the house located a memorial Museum of the famous mathematician, who was near the square, in which stands a bronze bust of the scientist.
After the death of the talented mathematics Institute named after Steklov, Vinogradov, the head of which was for fifty years, gave a unique collectible items genuine documents, and various personal belongings of Ivan Matveevich. In the Museum's memorial Fund includes documents academician, from different periods of his life, including not only domestic, but foreign awards, some editions of his scientific works, as well as some personal home library of Ivan Matveevich. In addition to this important value represented different kinds of gifts for anniversaries, documents and objects that clearly show the passion of this great man.
Scientific activities of the memorial Museum named after I. M. Vinogradov is characterized by historical and biographical component with some fragmentary additives memorial interiors. Initially, the authors of the project developed the idea of a complete restore youth house youth Vinogradova, but soon it was decided not to carry out before the end of this kind of work. The greatest number of these materials are relevant to Leningrad, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Perm life periods of the outstanding scientist.
Ivan Matveevich lived in the parental home during 1902-1910. It was in this house came to visit his numerous relatives who were members of the early Velikie Luki dynasties Novska-Vinogradov. In this city, received his secondary education three children of the family Vinogradov, as well as a passion for the young Ivan exact Sciences, which was definitely noticed by parents and aimed in the right direction.
Today the house-Museum of academician I. M. Vinogradov has unique collection of memorabilia, characterized by a Museum value. Documents and items provided by the Museum, there are about 6 thousand, the largest number of which was transferred to the Mathematical Institute.
