The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in KEMAH – active Catholic Church, a monument of defensive architecture of the XVII century. The Church was built in 1603-1604, on the order of hero of Khotyn battle Jan Rudamina-Dpackage.

During the Russo-Polish war 1654-57 year, when the Church was occupied by the hospital, the temple was badly damaged by fire. After extensive rebuilding, the temple was re-consecrated in 1673. In the original construction chetyrehdverny the temple after the restoration became the nave.

Again, seriously damaged the temple during the Northern war of 1700-1721. Its walls were destroyed by the nuclei of the Swedish artillery. In memory of this, during subsequent repairs, it was decided to morovati cannonballs in the walls of the Church. During the next renewal of the Church in 1726-36 years, the vaults were painted with floral ornament with flower and fruit bearing vines as a symbol of prosperity and fertility of their native land.

Southern rectangular chapel with a crypt, covered with a barrel vault, was built in 1778. In the XVIII century the Church was an organ, preserved to our days. Great restoration of the Church was held in 1861.

Interesting fact – in its history the Church was never closed. Century it sounded Catholic hymns. During the making of the Church in the State list of historical and cultural values of the Republic of Belarus it counted 118 items of historical values.

In the courtyard of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist is a large stone cross with a niche for the crucifixion. The cross was erected in the XV-XVI century. The height of the cross 2, 55 m.
