White castle Kovel in the Resin – residence Volyn princes of Angusc, built in 1626 on the border of Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Russia. In the XVII century, border skirmishes between the two States happen all the time, so it was very important that princely residence could survive an enemy attack, and even the siege, but still it was a princely residence, and not the castle, because the castle was built in the Renaissance style. The construction was managed by a Dutch architect.

White castle Kovel was similar to the famous in our days reconstructed Mir Castle as castle 100 x 200 meters was surrounded on all sides by water. The castle was surrounded by high walls, built of large bricks and rough stones. The thickness of the walls reached 1, 5 meters. In each corner of the walls were tall watch towers, which in addition to defensive, and were dwelling.

The internal structure of the castle were three-storey with large Windows, decorated aprons with Dutch ornament. The entire castle was more like Dutch, not Belarusian.

The name "White Kovel" the castle was given princes of Sangushko, based on his estate in Kovel, which was once a committed exchange between Sangolqui and fugitive Moscow Prince Andrei Kurbsky, received Smolyanov as a generous gift from the government of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

In the XVII century White Kovel became the cultural center of the country. Being at a great passer tract on the way from Moscow to Europe, owners have hosted many famous guests. During the Northern war White Kovel belonged to Paul the Karol sanguszko family, who made this war on the side of the Swedes and placed in his castle the Swedish garrison. Russian troops were able to take the castle, but knew that would not be able to hold it, therefore, by order of Peter I, the castle was blown up.

Gradually decayed and confiscated by the Russian Treasury on the partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the castle was dismantled for building material. There is only one five-tiered Central tower.

White castle Kovel included in the plan of restoration of monuments of culture of Belarus for the next 5 years.
