Edward Elgar - known British composer of the late XIX – early XX century. He is known primarily for his orchestral works, but he also wrote many oratorios, symphonies, chamber music, instrumental concerts and songs.
Edward Elgar was born near Worcester in the village of Lower Brochet. Two years after his birth the family of Sharov moved to Worcester, where his father was a music store.
Small village house became a Museum in 1934, immediately after the death of the great composer. Elgar loved this house and throughout his life many times came here and spent a lot of time here. Shortly before his death he expressed his daughter's wish that, if his honour will be arranged for any memorial, may it be in the house in Bradgate.
In the house-Museum has a unique collection of documents, manuscripts, photographs and personal belongings of the composer. It is possible to trace the entire life of Elgar, his childhood and youth, marriage and family life, his travels and Hobbies. Elgar travelled extensively in Europe, was in America. His favorite activities were golfing and Biking.
Many of the materials stored in the Museum, are of great value to researchers of the composer's life, historians and experts on the history of music. At the research center at the Museum scientists can get all these materials at his disposal.
Museum visitors also enjoy spending time in the garden, which was restored according to the drawings of the time, when there was a family of Sharov with children.
