The Japanese Park La Serena - amazing theme Park located on the area of 26 000 square meters and is the largest Japanese garden in South America. In his collection you can see the amazing plants and animals of the rising sun.

The Japanese Park La Serena was built with the participation of several mining and processing companies in Chile and Japan, mainly "Compañía Minera del Pacífico" (mining company of Chile) and "Nippon Steel Corporation" (Japanese steel company). The establishment of the Park with its typical Japanese scenery was one of the agreements amicable agreement between the sister cities of La Serena and Japanese Tenri city in 1966.

The Japanese Park was officially opened on 26 August 1994 in celebration of the 450th anniversary of the founding of the city of La Serena.

The Park, designed by landscape designer Akira Ohira, located in downtown La Serena near coastal ocean, opposite the Parque Pedro de Valdivia. In the Park you can see several attractions, including Japanese cherry trees, bamboo trellis fences, garden stones, artificial lagoon and traditional Japanese bridge. Also it is home to various species of ducks, swans, and in a pond of goldfish.
