The name of the village of Clumsily, the stories of local residents were born because there lived master, who made from juniper long staves or kluka for Novgorod monks (once these lands belonged to the Novgorod).
Modern stone Church of saints Florus and Laurus was erected in 1872. But long before this building on this site was a wooden Church, built in 1566. Probably it was rebuilt several times, as the wooden churches often burned. It still has information that it was altered in 1864. And in 1872 instead of wooden buildings built of stone, remarkably well preserved, despite the times, hard times, wars and destruction.
The temple stands on the highest point and is visible from afar. It is enclosed by a high stone wall with turrets at the corners and look like a fortress or a small monastery. Old-timers say that when I planned to build a new Church, we decided to move her to the other side of the river Plank, where the road passes. The work was developed, laid the cornerstone, and all went home, as they say, to celebrate. When morning came, the stone disappeared. Searching found it in the yard of the former Church. Very surprised, but dragged him back. The next morning happened the same story: again the stone was found at the same place. He was again dragged through the river. Another day at the crack of dawn went to see what the stone was doing. And he again lies in the courtyard of the former Church. Here it was decided that it is the will of God, and a Church was built where it stands now.
Long since in Glucosio bred horses. The rich owners of horse farms donated funds for the erection of the Church. They say that prior to the revolutionary events in the feast day (August 31) the locals were decorated with horses, bows and brought them to the Church, where the priest sprinkled them with Holy water.
The Church preserved the icon of saints Florus and Laurus surrounded by horses. There are actually a lot of ancient icons that were brought by residents Glucosic and neighboring villages even during the war, when the Church was opened by the Germans.
In 1939 the Church was closed. It first housed a warehouse, and then club. Almost half of the bell tower was dismantled on the bricks, so now it looks weird: below the main dome is the memory of those times.
In 1942 the Nazis were allowed to open the Church and to bring Russian priest. After the war, repressed priest, but the Church continued to operate.
The interior of the Church has survived much worse than its appearance. Once temple walls were painted, but in a club on a delicate painting was roughly plotted blue oil paint, and during the war here was hit by a shell. Around the Church is the cemetery where are buried now.
In 2011, in the Church of Florus and Laurus was updated wiring, outside and inside, new lighting, fencing has been updated.
Saints twin brothers Florus and Laurus lived in the II century in Byzantium, were skilled stonemasons. Were martyred for the faith. Over the years, their Holy relics were uncovered and sent to Constantinople. The icons they are portrayed surrounded by horses, to operate which, according to legend, they were taught the Archangel Michael. In agrarian Russia pre-revolutionary period, the veneration of these saints was very large. They had been approached with prayers from the loss of cattle. August 31 is the day of memory of saints Florus and Laurus. Also known as the "horse holiday". On this day, horses are not worked, they staged a break from any work that fed his fill, bathed, decorated and brought to the temple for washing them with Holy water.
