In 1606 there was built a small Palace for the mistress of the Archbishop von Raitenau – Salome Alt. Wolf Dietrich was very fond of her and she gave birth to the Archbishop of 15 children.
In 1727 the mansion was rebuilt in the Palace in the Baroque style. The building was badly damaged during the fire of 1818. Now it is the residence of the burgomaster and magistrates of Salzburg.
The greatest artistic interest is the marble staircase, decorated with figures of angels, and the Marble hall, decorated with gold, where he gave concerts of Mozart.
The Mirabel Park, adjacent to the Palace, was designed in 1690 by Fischer von Erlach as a regular Park. Note the amusing Garden dwarfs with grotesque stone figures of dwarfs. In the Orangerie building now houses the Museum of the Baroque.
