One of the attractions of Tangier is the American legation Museum, located near the palatial complex Dar-El-Macsen. This open in the past century, the Museum serves as a reminder of the fact that the government of Morocco became the first country on the African continent, recognized the independence of the United States. The Museum is housed in a beautiful five-storey building. Among the Museum's exhibits is the collection of drawings and paintings on cloth depicting events from the history of Tangier.
