The Iligan city, situated in the North of the province of Lanao del Norte on the island of Mindanao, was once the capital of the province. According to the census of 2007, there are about 318 thousand people.

Iligan called the "City of Grand Waterfalls", because on its territory there are several of these wonders of nature is about 20! The most famous is the Maria Cristina falls, sometimes called "waterfalls-twins", since on the edge of the cliff stands a huge boulder that divides the falls into two streams. The height of Maria Cristina is 98 meters.

Another famous waterfall – Tinago, located in the district of Beroun. This is one of the most beautiful natural sights in the vicinity of Iligan – water flows from a height of 73 meters fall into a deep emerald lagoon. Behind the hidden waterfall is a small cave in which you can hear the roar of falling water. And on the shores Tinago stretches of lush rainforest. On the origin of the waterfall is composed of a beautiful legend: once in these places lived influential Sultan Agok are ongoing with his wife. The people chose their rulers, but they became proud and began to oppress the people. When the wife of the Sultan was pregnant, one fairy, disguised as a beggar, asked for help Agok, but he rejected her and ran from the courtyard. Then the enchantress cursed the spouses said that their child will be ugly. And so it happened – when the baby was born, everyone was amazed by its ugly appearance. The Agok are ongoing with the wife hid the child in the cave and called it the tin-AG, which means "the hidden face". When she grew up, she came out of his hiding place and met the sorceress – sorceress offered to return the girl beauty. The girl agreed and turned into a waterfall Tinago.

Among other popular waterfalls in Iligan – Embalut, Abag, Odiongan and Limunsudan waterfalls, which are considered the highest in the Philippines. Some of them can only be reached on foot.

Another attraction Iligan sources are Timoga, known for its icy and crystal clear water that fills several ponds. These reservoirs are very popular with residents, because they are so good to cool off during the summer heat. They are located along the main highway at a distance of 500 meters to 1 kilometer from Beroun. On this same highway you can reach the beach of Bukhan – one of the most beautiful within Iligan.

Besides the natural beauty in Iligan city worth visiting Century Park, the Park is a Maze and Cathedral of St. Michael.
