The house-Museum of Georgi Velchev devoted to the life and works of Bulgarian painter who worked mainly in the genre of portraiture and landscape. A favourite subject of the artist were Bulgaria, washed by the raging waves and gusty winds.

Born Velchev in Varna in 1891, and here at the school of drawing received his primary education in terms of painting, after the war moved to France, where he studied with eminent professors of the Academy of painting – Bonar and Amanda. Paintings of George Velchev exhibited in addition to Bulgaria in Karlsruhe and Wiesbaden. For seven years the artist traveled to America, visited Hawaii and also visited Australia. Since 1931 was again living at home, where he died in 1955.

The home of the artist in 1961 was presented to the administration of Varna relatives Velcheva – brother Vladimir and sister Pavlina's group. In the same year the building opened a memorial Museum. In 1995, the house-Museum has undergone a complete renovation, and the artist's paintings were mostly restored.

The Museum Fund has more than 240 paintings by the artist, of which 50 are in the permanent exhibition of the Museum. In addition to the permanent exhibition, there are monthly exhibitions of the classics of Bulgarian fine arts and the most distinguished representatives of the artistic elite of modern Bulgaria. The house-Museum is also involved in several international cultural projects. In particular, the Museum acts as the initiator of the festival "August in art", devoted to contemporary art.
