The village of Le Mat is 10 km from Hanoi. Local legend tells of a young fisherman who saved the life of a beautiful Princess from a monster, turned it upside down boat. Fearless fisherman overcame huge snake and saved the population of the surrounding villages from fear river monster. The profession of the hunter the serpent and still enjoys the esteem and respect. Every year, on the twenty-third of March, according to the Eastern calendar, the villagers organize a snake festival.

Le Mat provides delicious snake meat restaurants across the country – at a special snake farms locals bred reptiles, whose venom is deadly to humans and animals: vipers, coral snakes, cobras and yadovitaya water snakes.
