Art Museum of Mikkeli was opened in 1970, it is located in the city centre, directly opposite the Cathedral, in the Granite building, designed by the project and Armas Rankka in gg.

Three times in the history of the Museum changed its name, the latest of which – the Art Museum – it was only in 1981.

The permanent exhibition includes a Finnish paintings gg – 1980s, most of the works belongs to the post-Impressionists.

The Museum displays sculptures from the collection of Johannes Haapasalo, furniture, Oriental rugs and fine art objects.
