Namtok Chat Trakan was founded and incorporated in 1987. On the territory of 543 sq km are picturesque mountains covered with evergreen forests with many waterfalls and rivers, including the rivers here Pack and Kwai Noi. In Namtok Chat Trakan there are mixed deciduous forests, dipterocarpus forest and bamboo groves. The Park is part of the evergreen forests of Luang Prabang.

The most visited destination in the Park is the famous waterfalls of Dakrong or, otherwise, Chat Trakan. It consists of 7 levels, the height of the biggest one is about 15 meters. At the first level the round waterfall forms a natural pool surrounded by Sandstone. This place is great for a relaxing family holiday or a romantic picnic. Not far from here is the Orchid farm, and in the air and then flashed bright tropical butterflies.

Famous Namtok Chat Trakan the fact that on some rocks by the waterfall of Dakrong preserved ancient rock paintings. The locals call them Kradan Lek. Exact age and origin of the images, unfortunately, scientists have not been able to recognize.

The national Park is also home to the waterfall Nagan. It consists of 5 levels with a maximum height of 5-6 meters. Pleasant recreation area is located on the third level of the waterfall.

Just 3 km from the Central office of the national Park is a cliff Craddle on it you will see ancient carvings, reminiscent of geometric symbols.

As for wildlife, large mammals have moved to neighboring areas in the national Park you can meet deer, chipmunks, wild boars, squirrels and many tropical birds.
