Annunciation monastery Photo: the Annunciation monastery

The Church of the Annunciation is located on the picturesque Bank of the village of Fedorovka, which is part of the city of Togliatti as part of the Komsomol district. The building was built in 1846 by the owner of the village, a rich landowner N. F. Bakhmetev hoping for the speedy recovery of seriously ill wife Barbara. The throne in the temple was consecrated in honor of St. Barbara. Has preserved information about the first Church Minister who took the stone Church on the Volga - Alexander Kornilovich Yastrebova. The St. Barbara's Church in 1871 baptized the future vicar of the Saratov diocese – Peter Plainsboro.

In times of revolution and change, like all Orthodox churches, the Church was looted and closed. In the thirties of the temple was lifted bells and placed in the building of the club, and later opened a store.

In the late eighties the Church was returned to the Orthodox diocese and 19 may 1989 fully restored the Church, consecrated in honor of the Annunciation of the virgin, opened for parishioners. The restoration of the Church was engaged in a people's artist of USSR, laureate of State prizes, V. A. Vasnetsov. It is noteworthy that one of the icons, saved believers in the 1930-ies, returned to his former place in the restored Church. In the early 90s near the Annunciation Church began the construction of the refectory of the temple in honor of St. Barbara, outbuildings and ten monastic cells, which later became part of the temple complex, or, as commonly called, of the Annunciation monastery.

Orthodox landmark in the village of Fedorovsky is clearly visible from passing ships on the river, and the building of the temple with five Golden domes recognized as an architectural monument of the city of Togliatti.
