The Basilica palladiana is a Renaissance building in the Central Piazza dei Signori in Vicenza. His most noteworthy element is the loggia with one of the first examples of what later will be known as the Palladian window, " it was designed by a young Andrea Palladio. The creativity of the architect has had an enormous influence on the architecture of the Renaissance and future periods.

Initially, the Basilica was built in the 15th century and was known as the Palazzo della Ragione. The building housed the town hall and several shops on the ground floor. When in the 16th century part of the building collapsed, the Council of the Hundred commissioned Palladio to restore the Palazzo. The architect began work in April 1549 the first year. In 2007, the year began a large-scale project for the restoration of the Basilica. The roof of the building was disassembled to clean concrete floors, installed here after the Second World war, and replace them with lighter, glued beam. The entire facade of the Basilica was carefully purified and strengthened and provided with new lights. It was planned that the work will be completed in 2008-m to year - the year of the 500th anniversary of the birthday of Andrea Palladio, but had to be extended. The whole project of restoration of the Basilica Palladiana cost Vicenza 15 million euros.
